Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS Award)
The Junior Award Scheme for Schools (JASS) is an accredited award for young people. By providing a structured programme, JASS aims to support young people through the transition from Primary School to Secondary School. JASS has been designed to be wholly consistent with an inspirational curriculum and is flexible and adaptable to the interests and abilities of individuals to ensure it is achievable by all participants.
The JASS award is progressive, with increasing commitment, learning and challenge at each level. Each level requires four sections to be completed for a certain number of hours over the school term.
In 2018-19, we ran the Bronze Award with some Year 5 pupils and further details of what they have to achieve and how they went about it are provided on the attached document.
In 2019-20 we are planning to run the Blue Award with Year 5 and the Bronze Award with Year 6.
Pupils have a chance to cpmplete the JASS Award Silver and Gold levels when they move up to Mossley Hollins. This will then feed into the 'Duke of Edinburgh Award'.
