Curriculum Implementation

We have carefully selected themes which are lead by the curriculum subjects of Science, History, Geography and RE with cross curricular links made throughout to ensure coverage of the National Curriculum over time.  We also go beyond this to extend learning further.  

We have identified key concepts which form the spine of our curriculum allowing links to be made across themes and supporting the development of children’s long-term learning.  The same concepts are explored in a wide breadth of topics across KS1 and KS2.  By revisiting the same concepts over time and across themes children gradually build a deeper understanding of them. 

In 2020-21 we have organised our curriculum so that all classes have learning that links in some way nder an 'Umbrella Theme'.  This has been done to help the children make links to prior learning and build a sense of excitement and anticipation for future learning.
