Year 6 2019 - 2020

Miss Troy

Our class teacher is Miss. Troy.  Mrs. Robinson provides teaching assistant support in Year 6.  Miss. Noble and Mrs. Wright provide SEN support.

We learn through the Key Stage Two Curriculum. Please have a look at the curriculum overview to see what we are learning at the moment.  For more information, please take a look at the curriculum section of the website.

Your child's learning can be supported by reading every day, learning spellings, learning times tables and completing homework.  With reading, spellings and times tables, little and often is the key.

Children in Year 6 will complete their SATs in the week beginning 11th May 2020.  These are tests in Reading, GPS (Grammar, Punctuation and Spelling) and Maths (arithmetic and reasoning).  Writing is teacher assessed.

Continue to keep a diary of day to day life at the present time.

Continue to learn/practise a new skill.

Please remember to keep reading regularly.  This could be listening to audiobooks, reading books or magazines.

A poem for Year 6 children.

Today is the day that SATs would have started,

The classroom set up and the tables parted,

The rules on the board, display walls all covered,

Your workbooks away, out of sight in the cupboard.

Instead you are home, you're doing your bit,

Protecting your families from getting sick,

It's important right now, we're in lockdown, you see,

Being a part of world history,

You've all worked so hard, you should be so proud,

You've practised your SPaG and times tables out loud,

You have learned algebra to the nth degree,

Now the tests, they will no longer be,

Some may feel sad that they can't take the tests,

"Hip hip hooray," I've no doubt said the rest,

Whilst tests are on hold and you stay home this term,

Remember that tests can't measure everything you learn,

I don't need SATs results to tell me,

How hard you have worked, it's easy to see.

'Lockdown' Year 6, let me shout it out loud,

You have made all your teachers so proud,

Please continue to learn, fill that brain up full,

Remember, we think you're all wonderful!

We are so proud of you. You are all amazing with or without SATs!
