Co-opted Governor Vacancy

We are looking for a co-opted governor to join our Governing Body from 18th May 2019.

The Governing Body is a key part of the leadership and management of the school.

The three core roles of a Governing Body are to:

  • Set the vision and strategic direction of school
  • Hold the headteacher to account for its educational performance
  • Ensure financial resources are well spent.

This means that Governors are often involved in:

  • Setting achievement targets
  • Looking at SATs results and questioning how performance of the school can be improved.
  • Approving the School Self-Evaluation document in which the strengths of the school and areas for development are outlined
  • Recruiting staff
  • Approving or amending school policies
  • Making financial decisions.....and lots of other things!

It is an in-depth role but one which can be very rewarding.   The Livingstone Primary School Governing Body meets once a month on a Monday evening at 6.30pm.  A co-opted governor is simply a member of the wider community who has an interest in helping the school to improve.

We are particularly interested in recruiting a Governor who has financial expertise to offer the school and who would be interested in chairing the Finance Committee.

If you are interested in helping the school to improve and believe you can give the time and commitment, then we would be very interested in hearing from you.  Please contact Miss Rebecca Willard, Headteacher, at the school.
